Drinking Liberally, District 2 David Sirota Event Tonight, 6/24/2008

Tonight, author David Sirota will be appearing at Joseph-Beth in Rookwood Pavillion for a Q&A and signing of his latest book, The Uprising: An Unauthorized Tour of the Populist Revolt Scaring Wall Street and Washington. The event is being organized by several organizations and people, including members of the Newport chapter of Drinking Liberally.

Sirota is an accomplished columnist, whose syndicated columns appear in multiple major publications, as well as in The Huffington Post. He has also been a strategist for the campaigns of Montana Governor Brian Schweitzer, and former Connecticut U.S. Senate candidate Ned Lamont. In his latest book, he shows how grassroots local movements are gradually gaining power in America to challenge the establishment entities.

For this event, we'll be attending the signing, which will run from 7-9. We'll then go over to Bronte's at Joseph Beth - hopefully we'll convince David to join us for a drink or two.

6/24/08 - David Sirota reception - venue change

Hi all,

We wanted to make you aware of a change of the venue for our post-signing reception for David Sirota.

Next Tuesday (June 24th),we'll be moving DL to Joseph-Beth booksellers in Rookwood Pavillion to see David Sirota at his booksigning and discussion of his latest book The Uprising. The signing starts at 7:00. Afterwards, we'll be staying at Joseph-Beth for a reception to meet David and mingle with members of other progressive groups. Their restaurant, Bronte, served beer and wine, as well as a full menu of food, so it should be a good venue for us to meet at.

We hope to see you all for an interesting evening next Tuesday!

Cheers,
Adam

Drinking Liberally, District 2 7:30 PM June 10, 2008 @ The Pub at Rookwood

Hot and sticky outside?  Why not come join us with the frosty beverage of your choice at  The Pub at Rookwood Mews at 2692 Madison Road? We officially start at 7:30PM, but I'm usually there at least a half hour early to grab a table.

And what grabbed us this week?

Drinking Liberally, District 2 is meeting once again at The Pub at Rookwood Mews at 2692 Madison Road.  (Yes, that is its real name.) It's inside Rookwood, next to Bucca di Beppo and kind of kitty-corner from J Alexander.  Look for the red British Telecom phone booth (like on the old Dr. Who).  The 24, 11, 69 and 51 buses all stop nearby. Driving directions are available on their website; I pasted the most commonly used set at the end of this message.

Come join us for drinks, food, political talk and gossip at The Pub on Tuesday night!

From I-71 South
Take I-71 South (Cincinnati) to the Smith/Edwards Road exit (Exit #6).  At the first light, go right on Williams Ave. Get in the left lane and turn left at the light; this is Smith Road . (There is a Shell gas station). Once you turn get in the right lane. (You will go back over 71). At the second light go right into Rookwood Commons. We are located just inside on your left.

 From I-71 North
Take I-71 North (Columbus), to the Smith/Edwards Road exit. (Exit #6). At the stop sign make a right. Stay in the right lane at the first light (this has a continuous right turn arrow), and turn right into Rookwood Commons. We are located just inside on your left.
