Sioux Falls

If you could set your own salary, what would it be.

As the saying goes, another day another dollar. Or as they say on Wall Street, another day another $100,000.00 plus perks and bonuses and access to the company Lear Jet.

They truly operate in a different world on Wall Street, don't they. Win or lose they think they have special skills which entitle them to incredible rewards. They believe they are the Tiger Woods of Finance, not to be duplicated, when, in fact, they are just a bunch of lottery players who have landed on the right square and find themselves in the right situation. They pay themselves millions of dollars because they can. Which begs the question, if you could set your own salary, what would you pay yourself?

Think about it . . .. . . It is hard to even imagine the amounts the Wall Street crowd believes they are entitled to. Theirs is a state of mind we would have to grow into, try on, and get used to. Not that it would be hard. I am sure I could adjust . . . . but it would take a little time. . . . Perhaps a day. . . . . And, come to think of it, I would want it all . . . You would have to find your own . . . . .I earned it. It is the American way. . . . and . . Oh! My God!. . you are beginning to look like a socialist to me. . . . .

But I would hold out enough to buy a round of drinks for the crowd at Tre's tonight.

I hope to see you there. We have a lot to talk about, the legislators are home, we are holding District meetings, and the County Party e-board elections will be held on April 7th. Come and have a drink or two and consider declaring your candidacy. Tequila helps every one think more clearly.

Since progressives believe in giving everyone a shot of the good life, we do not want our name to mislead anyone. We drink conservatively from 5:00- 5:08, moderately from 5:09-5:18, and liberally from 5:19 to whenever. And, of course, as the Beer and Alcohol Companies encourage, we always drink responsibly.

Location: Tre's at 33rd and So Spring St., Sioux Falls.

When: 5:00 Friday, March 27th, Until: Whenever (But if you stay for Karaoke, you've stayed too long.)

We meet again.

For a brief moment I thought I would be gone today but I remain here, ready to Host you this evening.

I hope to see you at Tre's again. We can chat about our latest Bonus and our plan to spend our share of the Bailout money. Do you remember the lady from West River who acquired a disputed $6 Million lottery ticket about 10 years ago? When they asked her what she was going to do with the money, she said she wanted to buy a new 'Double Wide.' Well so it is with me and the bailout money, I feel like treating myself to a new double wide too. Right after I see you at Tre's.

We meet at Tre's again tonight.

We will meet at Tre's again tonight which, despite it's upscale, hootie tootie feel, is really quite affordable during Happy Hour from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. So join us as we maintain our calm amidst a world ( as measured by the Dow Jones Industrial Average ) going to hell around us.

And, I remind you of the Corollary to Murphy's Law, "Just when you think things can't get any worse, they will." It is a Law to live by today with GM hovering just above $1.50 a share and talking of Bankruptcy, and Citigroup, the World's largest bank, the bank employing 5,000 people in our small community, trading for $1.00 a share, down from $55.00 just a year or so ago, and rumored about to be broken up.

So much for the efficient market theory. . . . $55.00 today, $1.00 tomorrow. If it seems so very irrational, perhaps it is . . . . or perhaps it was just crooked. . . . Either way, so much for retirement funds and financial stability and Balanced Budgets and . . . and . . . and your portfolio. Sorry.

I am no financial guru . . . . and even if I were I wouldn't admit to it these days . . . . but I do have some free advice . . . If you have a hundred shares of Citi you haven't sold yet, sell those suckers immediately, and join us with the $100.00 you will get back for a few Drinks tonight at Tre's. Your investment may have been worth $5500.00 once, but not any more. You might as well spend it on us. We will help you mourn your loss. We will curse those greedy Republicans who failed to mind the store. And we will curse those Bastard New York Bankers, their Golden Parachutes, and the $5500.00 of your money they transformed into a round of Drinks for a bunch of Liberal Democrats at Tre's. And we will drink to their demise. We are on your side.

It should be fun. And if you hesitate, remember that Corollary to Murphy's Law. . . "Just when you think it can't get worse, it will". . . . . Don't wait, you may not be able to afford us next week.

Here is to your 401K and financial gurus everywhere.

Cheers.
