Last chance before the election

Hi, Everybody,

Thursday night, 7:30 to 9 is the time to gather at the Green Bean, 341 S. Elm St. in Greensboro, to chat about polls, early voting, dirty tricks, what Saturday Night Live will do after the election is over, or whatever else occurs to us. Please join co-host William Moates and me. We miss the old crowd and would really enjoy seeing you all again.

Election fatigue? Then put on your election fatigues and join us!

Tired of the attack ads? Of style, not substance? All this rhetoric making you ill? Then come on down to the Green Bean and commiserate! The beers are cold, the coffee is hot, and the chairs are lukewarm! Here's some stuff we may talk about:

The GOP spent $150,000 to dress the Palin family. Should we be outraged?

Will Biden derail the Democratic campaign?

Where did people get the idea that Obama is a socialist, and what do they mean by that? Do they mean "socialist" (small S) or "Socialist" (big S)? What's the difference?

Why does the Republican mascot have no ears?

Is double parking fascist, or libertarian?

Who would pets vote for?

If these burning questions keep you up at night, then take some milk of magnesia and meet us at the Green Bean Thursday night, 7:30 pm until the cows come home (or 9:00 pm if the cows are driving). Holsteins are welcome!

debate chat - or not

Hello, all,

Marylaine Block here. William Moates and I will be sharing the minimal hosting duties for Drinking Liberally, which consist of showing up at 7:30 on Thursday night at the Green Bean on S. Elm Street, chatting, imbibing, sticking around until 9, and hoping you will join us.

Possible topics might include the debate or polls or gaffes or miscellaneous political silliness. Or, since we rarely restrict ourselves to politics, whatever else strikes our fancy.

William suggests the following:
"You can't listen to NPR when you're busy hunting caribou." Or the Biden corollary: "They don't play Rush on the metro to Wilmington." Or Obama's: "You can't watch O'Reilly when you're busy shooting hoops."

Drinking Liberally, Thursday, October 9

Hello,

Marylaine Block here, acting for the time being as chapter leader. We've accumulated rather a lot of political events to talk about since we last met, so I'll host Drinking Liberally at the usual place, The Green Bean on S. Elm St., but not quite at the usual time. I prefer to start the festivities at 7:30 p.m. and quit at 9. And since it's a little awkward for a woman to sit alone at a bar, I sure hope you'll join me.

I'd really like to find out who wants the group to continue, whether or not you're able to show up tonight, so please send an e-mail to let me know you are still interested.

Cheers!

Marylaine
