What's Congresswoman Degette up to?

This week for Drinking Liberally Denver we'll be joined by Congresswoman Degette's political director Heather Lurie. She'll provide updates from Congress and take questions back to Degette.

It's not all good news though. DL co-host Kath is leaving us, but not without saying goodbye:

Hey Denver DL gang -

Am officially stepping away from helping John co-lead Denver Drinking Liberally.

It's been an honor and a pleasure to work with John and to be a part of something so special. It was through Denver DL that I met so many of you and had a front-row seat to witness candidates, campaigns, good times, wins and losses, and let's not forget the beer :-)

Having run my own DL chapter in FL prior to moving to Denver, I must give kudos to John for his amazing accomplishments as the leader of Denver Drinking Liberally. Most of you don't realize the time and effort that John puts into our group, so I hope he'll let me use this forum to publically thank him for everything he's done for us and for the political progressives of Denver and Colorado. We most definitely would not be where we are without John's guidance and perseverance.

In closing, thanks for your help and friendship.

I will never forget you.

Kath Brandon

The legislative session will be over in a few weeks. So, next time, for May 13th, I'll be inviting a number of legislators to join us.

As always Drinking Liberally Denver is:

Skylark Lounge
140 S Broadway
7:30pm onward

this week - Erin Egan with Progress Teams

Greetings and Salutations,

It seems our last event with supporters of a primary challenge to Senator Bennet was a big hit. While the discussion didn't descend into a knife, gun fight, or a gun fight where one side brings a knife; there were accusations of tearing the party apart. I've also got to call back a reporter today as she's doing a related story.

This week we'll hear from Erin Egan. Formerly with Democrats work, Erin is work now working with Progress Now on implementing what they're calling Progress Teams. The idea is to harness the power and energy of those active in the last election and help them with tools (not the Craftsman kind) and support (not the athletic supporter kind) to organize and bring about change on the local or state level.

Next time, on May 22nd, we'll be joined by Heather Lurie, Congresswoman Degette's new political director. She'll bring updates on what the Congresswoman is working on in Congress.

From now on Drinking Liberally Denver is:
2nd and 4th Wednesdays
Skylark Lounge
140 S. Broadway
7:30pm onward
