Corpus Christi

book on prohibition of alcohol

Hey all you Liberal Drinkers. Just thought I would write and brag on one of our chapter leaders for Corpus Christi. Jim Klein not only wrote a book on liquor prohibition, but he has won at least one award for the book. "Grappling with Demon Rum: The Cultural Struggle Over Liquor in Early Oklahoma" has won the Oklahoma Historical Association book of the year award and is nominated for the best non-fiction book by the Oklahoma Libraries Association/Center for the Book. Don't worry, the irony of a Drinking Liberally chapter host winning a book award about liquor prohibition is not lost on us (and this isn't even an April Fool's joke). If you have questions about the book, don't hesitate to ask. Jim has a wealth of information when talking about liquor.

As always, we will be meeting on the third Thursday of the month (April 16th) at the Progressive Center starting around 7pm. The ACLU has its meeting before hand, so if you're interested in that, I'm sure they wouldn't mind if you dropped by. As always bring a drink, bring a friend, and drink (and read) responsibly.
