Hey everybody,
Due to a change in my schedule, drinking liberally will be going back to once a month. It'll be the THIRD Wednesday of the month, at 7:30 PM (unless otherwise specified).

So let me specify a change for January. Instead of having it on the 3rd Wednesday (the 21st), DL is throwing Inauguration Party 09 on the 20th at Rock 'n' Sports. While the swearing in will be earlier in the day, the celebration continues all over the country, late into the night! Details to come!

But starting February, 3rd Wednesday! I swear! For those of you interested in the book club, I'm making arrangements, and it too will start in January of 2009. I am taking suggestions on books so let me know. I'm still catching up on a knee-high stack of books from election season. Any ideas??

Hey everybody! Drinking Liberally tonight and every Wednesday at Rock 'n' Sports in Centro Ybor at 7:30 PM. I might be a little late, but just tell the wait staff you're with Drinking Liberally and get 10% off your food.

Also now that the election season is winding down, DL will host an inauguration celebration. January 20th (Tuesday). For those of us who will not be suffering a D.C. winter to see it live, we'll be celebrating in a bar in warm sunny Florida. Details to come.

Also I'd like to put out a PSA regarding the TECO franchise agreement. Now DL does not endorse or take an "official" stance on any legislation, its members are encouraged to do so individually. So I personally, agree with the council's decision not to accept the TECO 25-year franchise agreement.

While a 25-year agreement is not an atypical length of term for this type of agreement, we live in an world with rapid changing energy policies and technologies. We would benefit from something that allowed for more flexibility, and a contract that would not lock us into an agreement with no preconditioned terms to utilize these technologies that both benefit the environment, our public health, and our prices.

Also there has been interest in a progressive book club. How does the B&N on South Dale mabry work for people. I am going to give a call back today to a book store owner about discounted books. Let me know if you are interested.

I also want to see who is still interested in a liberal book club. If you want to sit down and read with fellow progressives let me know. It will most likely take place near South Tampa (probably the B&N on Dale Mabry south of 275). If you want to be part of this let me know. Joanna Cheshire has expressed interested in taking charge of this. Also let me know what books you'd be interested in reading. The election season is over! Now what do we obsess over for the next two years? Well, there are plenty of things to do, organizations that need help, litres of beer that needs to be drank.

If you belong to any organization, or are interested in getting involved in a post-election world, come on out to Rock-n-Sports this Wednesday. There's still a lot of energy and momentum from this election and so many causes out there that need to be fought.

Great food, great drink, great liberals. Rock-n-Sports has our section set aside, with drink specials and a discount for members, we appreciate what they've done for us.

Also, as a liberal with a mother in the Air Force, a brother in the Army and a father who is retired from the Army, I would like to thank every serviceman and woman who watches over us as we go to sleep tonight. This day and everyday. Come home to us safely.

Being the bad event coordinator that I am, I've unintentionally scheduled the movie night at the same time as Obama's 30-minute spot and, more importantly, the conclusion of game 5 of the World Series!

So the movie for tomorrow will be CANCELLED. We will still meet at Rock n Sports at 7 to watch Obama's spot and the game. We get 10% off the menu and drink specials. Sorry for the confusion or inconvenience. We'll definately have to get together at a later date to watch the movie though.

Drinking/Screening Liberally and the Hillsborough County Young Democrats invite you out for a screening of Oliver Stone's W! The screening will take place at the Muvico in Ybor City on Wednesday. They're screening the movie for us in the Premier room, and tickets will be about $12 but we're working on getting some discounts for our group. The movie starts at 7:25 PM and is about 2 and a half hours long.

After that you're welcome to head over to Rock-n-Sports for discussion and drinks. If you are interested in learning more about what you can do for the campaigns and seeing an acclaimed film from Oliver Stone, come on out to Drinking Liberally, cohosted by the Hillsborough Young Democrats. As for the debate, this was a bit more lively than the last. I think the candidates felt it was one of the last chances for certain jabs at the other. And an opportunity to introduce "Joe the Plumber" which should have been a mini-drinking game in itself! So here's to all you Joe Six-packs and Joe Plumbers! Cheers!
