McCain Haiku / Limerick Game

2008 Republican National Convention Limerick and Haiku Competition--Samples (Provided by Drinking Liberally at Portland OR)

A limerick is a poem with five lines. The first,
second, and fifth lines rhyme, and have three beats.
The third and fourth lines rhyme, and have two beats.
For example:

Now McCain will not talk to the press
They're asking hard questions, I guess
And they're kicked off the bus
Where they can't cause a fuss
So much for the Straight Talk Express

When the RNC meets in St. Paul
It will kick off a most dismal fall
If their best hope is Palin
Their luck must be failin'
So they'll come at a crawl if at all

Unexpected rhymes are fun, but not necessary. If you get stuck, here's a good online rhyming dictionary: http://www.writeexpress.com/online.html

A haiku is a poem which, in English, traditionally has three non-rhyming lines, totaling 17 syllables: five in the first line, seven in the second, and five in the third. There are more elaborate rules for purists, which you're free to follow(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haiku), but we're going to totally ignore them Thursday night.

They can work something like this:

Brags: "Experience"
Picks: A Veep without a clue
Time to find Plan B

The new Vee Pee choice
Likes to bag herself some moose
Does Dick Cheney know?

The can't-miss answer
To any awkward question:
