We Toast American Values - Time for Our Candidates to Do the Same

The incredible rescue of Chilean miners is a testament to
international collaboration & mass investment of public resources
...which the right derides as "big government liberalism" in the US
but we liberals know are hallmarks of a stronger society.

As Carl Paladino & other GOPpers attack gay Americans,
while Dem leaders halted & hesitated on "Don't Ask, Don't Tell,"
a judge bravely issued a decision for equality & justice --
in a ruling that's closer to the maturing mores of the American people
than are the half-measures in DC and the hatred from the right.

While banks foreclose on hard-working homeowners,
the Administration wavers, conservatives blame the victims,
but Americans fundamentally believe that it is better
to find a way for families to stay in their homes.

Investment in the public good, equal rights, fairness,
standing up for the regular American against the moneyed powers
...you can call these liberal values -- or call them American values
-- but candidates: start calling them "your values."

With only a handful of weeks until the midterms,
come refuel, re-engage and ready yourself for the campaign trail
as you share politics, values & a few beers
at your local progressive social club.
