Wednesday Night at Dolce Vita!

Languid? Sweltering? Downright torrid? Suspicious that things are going to get even hotter? Well, perhaps you're right: it's time for another session of Drinking Liberally!

No, this isn't a heat-induced hallucination. Indeed, just the opposite: it's the perfect chance to chill. For a couple hours of conversational cool, join us Wednesday, August 6, at the ever-funky Dolce Vita Wine Bar, in NoDa. You'll be glad you did.

What's in store? In addition to a belated birthday shout out to Barack Obama, who turned 47 a day or two ago, we're thrilled to report that the Drinking Liberally National Conference is nearly upon us.

Drinking Liberally National Conference? Yep. Over the first weekend in September, fellow D.L. movers and shakers will scramble in from all corners of the country for a day-long series of seminars and workshops, and we'll be throwing them a truly awesome, delightfully rollicking shindig the evening of Saturday, September 6th, so stay tuned. More on this tomorrow night at Dolce Vita, and, by email, later this week.

What else is cookin'? Oh, the usual: endless Vice-Presidential chatter (it could happen any day), ongoing snickers about John McCain's technology foibles ("I am forcing myself--let me put it this way, I am using the computer more and more every day," he assured the Times), snickering about John McCain's age (he turns 72 later this month), and any other conversational hot topics you bring to the table.

As always, the heat of your discussion will be tempered by the icy-cold pint of beer in your hand--or, if you prefer, the sanguinity of that glass of wine you're holding will also do the trick.
