Yes, Mitt! And how does one fight fire? Sometimes one must fight fire with fire, Mitt. Or, you could do what the GOP does: run like hell and when it's under control swoop back in and take credit while complaining that the working folks are taking too long. I think too much privilege has rotted their brains. Not me. I rot my brains by drinking liberally. Thursday night. Join me!
Drinking Liberally Tonight with Katie HobbsSubmitted by Oran Switzer on Thu, 05/03/2012 - 10:18am.Sorry I forgot to send this email sooner. Please join us TONIGHT as Drinking Liberally will be joined by State Representative Katie Hobbs, who is running for a promotion to State Senate in LD24. Of course, she has to win a primary first. I look forward to seeing what she has to say about the GOP war on women, workers, education, the poor, scientists and intellectuals, minorities, gays... and well really anyone who isn't a rich straight white dude. I understand it as a fundraising strategy for conservatives, but c'mon guys! seriously? That's like 99% of the country. So what's our vision for America? Join us at Lux for refreshments and conversation. I know it says they are a coffee bar, but they have a full bar, an awesome selection of beer and wine, and great food. Let us eat, drink, and be merry, for tomorrow we may have to live through another Republican administration. Michelle Bachmann on Meet the Press this Sunday argued that "Women don’t need anyone to tell them what to do on health care. We want women to have their own choices...." Really? Great! No, that's not what she meant. She says it's Obamacare taking choice away from women. What she meant was that women don't need the government getting between her and her employer and/or husband's employer and/or insurance company to guarantee access to health care services that she might not even want. That if a woman really wanted access to health care her employer didn't approve of, she could look for a new job and it's not the role of the government to get in the way of private institutions and the values they wish to impose on their subjects. On the other hand, maybe that is the role of government. And ... how did I end up talking about this? I thought this was about the rights of women, not the rights of institutions. Right. Woman's choice. Maybe Bachmann is referring to a woman's choice to be forcibly subjugated -- because nothing in Obamacare prevents a woman from voluntarily subjugating herself to the will of her husband or her employer or any other person or institution she wishes -- and [bonus] if they disagree with each other and she decides, for example, to stay faithful above all to the will of her husband's employer's CEO's bishop's son in law's new-age cult, she actually has that choice now! Bah! Giving Michelle Bachmann the benfit of the doubt makes my head spin. I think for now, we'll just assume that she actually is dumber than a bag of hammers and maybe come back to it later. How about Thursday night? Drinking Liberally? Don't act surprised. You knew he was corrupt, but you had to stand on principle and proclaim to the world "we're white, we're angry, and we're parochial!" You knew Doug Ducey was sleazy, too, but you voted for him anyway because it's us versus them now, and working together to solve common problems is for suckers! I don't know whether laugh or cry, but at least on Thursday we'll be laughing about it. By then, they should be able to give you a list of facilities that aren't being shut down by his aggressive anti women agenda. Try these numbers: (512) 463-1782, (512) 463-2000 If you are in AZ, go to http://www.azleg.gov/MemberRoster.asp and call your Republican reps. Let them know how you feel. Personally, I'm tired of them wasting our money on laws they know are unconstitutional. Is that what fiscal conservatives do? Why? Cheap political points? If you've been experiencing an election lasting more than four years, call your nearest drinking liberally chapter and find out when's their next party! Ours is this Thursday!
