Every Tues. evening at 7:30 pmSubmitted by Gary Vitullo on Mon, 08/30/2010 - 2:37pm.Good morning Drinking Liberals: I'm back from my vacation and must say, it was one of the best I've ever had. It rained every single day I was in Nj. My people were all going " WHY are you so happy its raining????" (they don't live in a desert). Well...while I was gone the world continued to turn, politics are still happening, and Drinking Liberally continues to meet and chat. Did you see the GlenBeckPalooza? Great stuff. After watching it I thought I'd never have to go to Church again. Here is something important to give money to (thanks Dona): The money behind the tea party: This is one of the best articles on why Obama has been such a disappointment for many of the people on the Left, from a financial perspective. My head is still in the clouds from vacation, but here is something more out there, and it qualifies as our.... See you tomorrow night! Regular DL meeting @ Hamburger Hamlet, 214 S. Lake Ave. Pasadena. Every Tues. evening at 7:30 pmSubmitted by Gary Vitullo on Mon, 08/23/2010 - 8:07am.Good morning Liberals and Progressives of all types: I'm blogging today from lovely Ewing Township, somewhere between Trenton and Princeton, NJ. As you may have guessed, I'm actually ON VACATION!!!! This being said, I won't be joining the crowd on Tuesday night, tomorrow, for our usual fun and games. We WILL be meeting though and I'm sure our hearty band of regulars will be enjoying food and drinks at the Hamlet. Please feel free to join them in good conversation, good company, and good food. I will be back amoungst you all next Tues at our regularly scheduled meeting. See you then. Gary Here is your moment of travel Zen: Regular DL meeting @ Hamburger Hamlet, 214 S. Lake Ave. Pasadena. Every Tues. evening at 7:30 pmSubmitted by Gary Vitullo on Mon, 08/16/2010 - 3:33pm.If its Monday, it must be time to do the Drinking Liberally blog. One thing about politics, its never boring. It never disappoints. Just when you think you have it all figured out, you find yourself in Nut Chaos Village again. We all kinda thought that the election of President Obama would be the White Knight riding into Washington, DC and fixing all the wrongs of 30 years of Neocon criminality and malfeasance. Most of us thought it would be a huge payday of Democratic and progressive legislation and accomplishment. Who knew? Life is crazy. Here is a Republican who wants to cut social security. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/08/16/daniel-webster-gop-house_n_683293.html What really concerns me is that President Obama will back this play by the GOP, in cutting SS. There are many indications that this is what hes thinking. Dems may use food stamp money to pay for Michelle Obama's nutrition initiative. Are they insane? Food stamps are one of the biggest factors in a stimulus and recovery program, giving the biggest bang for the buck in Government programs. This is a great chart to hand to your Republican friends about tax cuts. We need more of this, but it should have a point: And now some Political Zen: hahahaha.... See you tomorrow night! this just in ~~ ~Submitted by Gary Vitullo on Mon, 08/09/2010 - 11:57pm.I realize this is a last minute invitation but I thought I'd forward this event to all y'all in case your work is local to Adam Schiff's office in Pasadena and you could pop by for this rally...I'll be there and we could use support...supposedly there's upwards of 70 people who rsvp'd to be there but with volunteers you know how that goes...in other words, we could use all the help we can get. In any case, if you can't make it I'll be at DL tomorrow to tell you about it if you'd like...and for the cost of only one drink for yours truly! Pasadena vs. Big Money: Stand with the Other 98% against corporate corruption Host: Laurie H. Where: Rep. Adam Schiff's District Office (in Pasadena) When: Tuesday, Aug. 10, 2010, at 12:00 PM What: We have to stop Target and other big corporations from changing the rules of democracy. The Fight Washington Corruption pledge aims to stop corporations from buying our elections and holds politicians accountable to the Other 98% of us. But politicians will only sign on to the pledge if voters demand it—that's why we're gathering across the country on Tuesday to ask all politicians to sign the pledge. Can you make it to our rally?
