Sample Ballot for ACC

Hey, folks,

Last week a few of you mentioned that you'd like information on local election nominees. While I can't provide a pros and cons list, I find this sample ballot for Athens Clarke County helpful in researching candidates. http://www.athensclarkecounty.com/documents/pdf/boardofelections/sample_...

I know not all of you DLers are from ACC, but I'm sure you can find similar information for each of your local counties on the web.

Happy voting!

DL Athens in UGA student newspaper

Hello everybody,

The five of us co-hosts were informally interviewed and photographed by a Red and Black reporter a little over a week ago and the resulting story is in today's Red and Black. It is mostly informational and is very brief, and positive in tone.

the debate, watch it in public if you want!

Hello again,

A few have mentioned that some bars and other venues will be showing the debate, including The Globe, our own Little Kings and Ciné (across the street from LK). I am sure there will be others.

Since tonight is a school/work night, I am guessing some of us might end up watching at home, especially given the 9 p.m. start time, but those of you that do go out will no doubt be in good company.

Take note, as pointed out by co-host Holly Moore: "FYI, Free pints of Terrapin tonight at Little Kings during the debate (while supplies last)." With an offer like that supplies may go fast so I would suggest getting there early if you intend to drink any of those delicious free pints.

see you tomorrow!

Debate tonight, DL tomorrow!

Hello again everybody!

Just a quick reminder that tomorrow (October 3) is the first Friday of the month, and you know what that means. DL Athens will be meeting up starting around 6:30, at Little Kings as always. Feel free to show up late (or early). We co-hosts will do our best to be there no later than 6:30.

Don't forget, tonight is the much-anticipated VP debate. Be sure to watch if you can, since it will provide us with plenty of fodder for our talk tomorrow, and also most likely will spawn many a new joke at you-know-who's expense. Co-host Tom Bavis has suggested tonight's debate viewing be a 'homework assignment'. As someone who regularly assigns homework I hesitate to endorse that suggestion, but I am sure most, if not all of us, will watch anyway.

See you tomorrow!

take it easy,

it's that time again

Hello everyone!

Just a quick reminder that our second meeting of the month is tomorrow night (Friday September 19th) at Little Kings, starting at 6:30 p.m.

Some have asked how long people stay for or if one arrives late whether people will still be there. Well, several of us usually stay for at least two hours and it is not unusual for some to stay even longer. In short, yes, feel free to arrive late!

I have to say, the new Rachel Maddow show (MSNBC) is on in the background as I type this, and it is great. If you have cable or satellite it is definitely worth watching. (9 p.m. on weeknights.)

See you tomorrow!
