1. It's Swearing-In Day! Let's raise a glass to the new Congress at our usual Drinking Liberally time and place, 6:30 PM tonight at the Paradise City Tavern.

2. It has been suggested that we should celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day (Mon. 1/19) with some local volunteer work. Does anyone have any suggestions for volunteering opportunities? Is there anything being organized by other area groups?

3. It has also been suggested that we should gather on Inauguration Day (Tues. 1/20) to watch the late morning ceremonies. The Academy of Music is hosting a watch party, but apparently tickets are already gone.

Our Paradise City Tavern hosts are willing to open their doors early for us, but we would need to give them an estimate of how many people would come so they could staff accordingly. Is there any interest?

It's been an exciting year for Northampton's Drinking Liberally, full of change. We moved from one bar to another ... and that's about it. But it was change nonetheless!

Let us celebrate and get an early start on 2009 at our regular time and place: 6:30 PM at the Paradise City Tavern.

Hello Northampton DLers! Based on our informal survey of people's plans for the week, we're going to suspend Drinking Liberally for this Tuesday, 12/23.

But we will return for Tuesday, 12/30 so we can gear up for First Night!

The economy is still tanking. We have terrorism from Mumbai to Paris. Illinois is paralyzed by corruption. Obviously, this is all ... Obama's fault! Why, he hasn't been president for an entire month!

Let's figure out what else we can blame Obama for at our usual Drinking Liberally time and place: 6:30 PM tonight at Paradise City Tavern.

Also, question for everyone: what should we do with DL for the rest of month? Do people want to gather on Dec. 23 and/or Dec. 30? Let us know!
