DL: 2009 and 2 weeks to go

Happy New Year DLers!

Come ring in 2009 with us this week as we get giddy over the upcoming inauguration and discuss the top ten excruciating moments of the Bush Presidency. This will be our last meeting with Bush in office...need we say more about our appreciation over the time and effort many of you put in these past 8 years, and especially the last three with our chapter of DL. Thank you!

On another note, we will be meeting at ARBOR BREWING COMPANY this week and not at Old Town, and in February we will adhere to the 1st and 3rd Thursday schedule (New Years Day got in the way this month). Lastly, we will be having speaker Bob Gould in February from Veteran's Radio. We want to hold more events and speakers, so if you know of either or are interested in collaborating or speaking please contact us (replying to this email will only contact Megan and Jenay).

Just a reminder that we are meeting tonight at Old Town Tavern. This will be our only meeting for the month of December, so please join us. Also, Anne Savage will be in attendance and selling her posters, and in case you didn't know her poster has been in the Boston Globe and it will be making an appearance in Time magazine. Aren't we lucky to have her as one of our members.

Happy Holidays DLers,

With the election over and the holidays upon us, help us keep up the amazing momentum we had by taking a moment to come and join us this Thursday. Keep in mind this is the last DL of 2008 (and was it ever remarkable!), we can't thank you all enough for your political passion and support over the course of this past year.

In case you missed this in last week's email check out DL member Anne Savage's amazing photo mosaic of Barack Obama at http://revolutionaryviews.com/obama_poster.html. Anne had this to say about her work:

"I spoke to so many people who all spoke of unity and inclusion. Barack Obama said at his acceptance speech, 'This election has never been about me. It's been about you.' His message has inspired so many to be involved and to dare to hope. These are their faces. This is their voice." -Anne Savage

We are hoping Anne will be able to attend and have posters for sale at our Thursday meeting.

Happy Holidays,

Megan & Jenay

Drinking Liberally December Meeting NEXT Thursday

Hi All,

Since we anticipate some busy holiday schedules, we will only be meeting once this month:

NEXT Thursday
December 11
7-10pm
Old Town Tavern

In January we will return to our usual 1st and 3rd Thursday schedule.

In the meantime, check out DL member Anne Savage's amazing photo mosaic of Barack Obama at http://revolutionaryviews.com/obama_poster.html. Anne had this to say about her work:

"I'm a photographer. I photograph interactive panoramas for websites and newspapers. When I photographed Obama rallies I could always find a spot on the risers that faced the sea of people. The rest of the press was there to photograph Barack Obama, I was there to document the enormity of the event, the people who attended. I wish you could have seen what I saw every time I stood up on the press risers and looked into the crowd.

Barack Obama would say that this wasn't about him, it was about us. I heard his message of inclusion and unity when he spoke and when I looked out into the crowds I saw that same message. The largest and most diverse crowds I've ever seen gathering together to be a part of this process, many for the first time.

I wanted to illustrate what I saw every time I climbed to the top of those risers and looked out into the crowd. This is what I saw."
