Fear of a Return to Normalcy

We hope you can make it out today to Drinking Coffee Liberally here in Mt. Airy!

As usual, we're meeting Sunday from 12:30pm to 2:30pm at:

Malelani Cafe Mt. Airy
6734 Germantown Ave
Philadelphia, PA 19119

This week, we're going to focus on something we all want, yet may be afraid of: A return to Normalcy. After The Great War, Presidential Candidate Warren G. Harding stated he wanted the country to go back to its pre-war attitudes. Similarly, we may all want to go back to how we felt before the election, but we're afraid to. We keep hearing that what's happened, and what's happening is, in fact, "not normal" and there is a problem with "normalizing" everything happening.

On that note, Trump's cabinet now contains someone who hates the EPA in charge of the EPA, someone who hates unions and the minimum wage and wants to replace workers with robots in charge of labor, a woman who wants more religious schools in charge of education, a brain surgeon in charge of housing, a Secretary of State who is currently the head of ExxonMobile, and the man making all these decisions has stated he would be interested in staying the Executive Producer of his TV show.

We'll discuss this in the context... of normalcy.

Trolley Car Diner and Trump

Hey all!

We hope you can make it out Sunday to Drinking Coffee Liberally here in Mt. Airy!

This Sunday, we're meeting in a special location from 12:30pm to 2:30pm at:

Trolley Car Diner
7619 Germantown Ave,
Philadelphia, PA 19119

This week, we're meeting at the Trolley Car Diner at 12:30pm in support. They've been the victim of some nasty harassment by Trump supporters. We ask that if you meet to arrive by 12:20pm so we can plan out the table we're getting. If you have any questions, I'll provide a phone number to call or text.

With the number of Trump news this week, there's no shortage of topics: "Mad Dog" Mattis is being considered for a position, Sarah Palin called Trump's Carrier deal "Crony Capitalism", Trump held a "victory" rally that felt more like Mussolini than American, and he's currently considering the current and former CEO's of Exxon-Mobile for Secretary of State.

Locally we'll talk about how Pennsylvania State Rep. Martina White, who represents Northeast Philadelphia, is trying to pass a bill that would end federal funding for "Sanctuary Cities" like Philadelphia, and Pat Toomey in the U.S. Senate doing the same as well.

Trump is Costing NYC Tax Payers $1 Million A DAY

We hope you can make it out today to Drinking Coffee Liberally here in Mt. Airy!

As usual, we're meeting Sunday from 12:30pm to 2:30pm at:

Malelani Cafe Mt. Airy
6734 Germantown Ave
Philadelphia, PA 19119

This week, we'll be discussing Trump's $1 Million a day habit: The cost of keeping him in Trump Tower until he moves into the White House, as well as the $1.5 Million a year Tax Payers across the country can expect to pay if the Secret Service need to rent out a floor in Trump Tower.

Additionally, we'll discuss the Trump Transition's latest additions, the Republican Party voting against the extension of LGBTQ Rights protection, the Philly GOP's response to an open letter to them about Trump and the fear in the community about him...

Oh, and the recounts that have been asked for in Wisconsin, and soon in Pennsylvania and Michigan, that were initiated by the Jill Stein campaign.

So come out, and drink to Democracy!

America in Transition

We hope you can make it out today to Drinking Coffee Liberally here in Mt. Airy!

As usual, we're meeting Sunday from 12:30pm to 2:30pm at:

Malelani Cafe Mt. Airy
6734 Germantown Ave
Philadelphia, PA 19119

We'll be discussing the Trump Transition, the Hamilton cast calling out on Mike Pence when he was in the crowd, Donald Trump advocating "Safe Spaces", and the need to check our language when talking to people we disagree with, and more!

All this, and more, at Drinking Coffee Liberally!

It's Mourning in America...

To say last Tuesday was a shock would be an understatement.

The sad truth is this is something we should have seen coming. In the words of Randy Marsh, "We didn't listen. We didn't listen!" For months we knew that a segment of our countrymen were furious over the direction this nation was headed, and those same folks were on the liberal side supporting another candidate. If you supported Bernie, you know what I mean; the feeling that, while things got better for some people, it wasn't getting better for you.

In essence, that was what people who voted felt Tuesday. They felt that they finally had a populist candidate who would help and support them. Sadly, they voted for a man who supported a Muslim ban, said a judge wasn't qualified for a case because of his parent's Mexican heritage, has been supported by the Klan and David Duke, said disturbing things about women... sadly, the list goes on.

It's mourning in America.

Today, we're asking you to come out to Drinking Coffee Liberally to talk about this. At this point we need to come together and make sure we understand more and more why this happened, how it came to this, and what we do now.

We're meeting Sunday from 12:00pm to 2:15pm at:

Malelani Cafe Mt. Airy
6734 Germantown Ave
Philadelphia, PA 19119

At 2:15pm, we're breaking to allow people time to go to a protest that is happening at 3pm in Center City against the current President-Elect. While Drinking Liberally does not support any candidate, we know members have their own viewpoints and, in turn, we're making sure that we make accommodations for this.

It's mourning in America, and now its time to sober up with coffee and figure out what to do next.
