DL at McHales this Wed

Happy New Year liberal drinkers! Let's ring it in in style in the upstairs bar at McHales! Yep, that's right, we've secured it for every first and third Wed (assuming they don't have requests to rent it out which would be very rare on Wed). They have Ipod plug ins for us if we want to bring our own music (go crazy techies), will allow us to post our sign downstairs to direct other up to us, and we can even play movies on their flat scree TV up there if we wanted! Should be very cool. The manager is very excited to host us. Bring your favorite news topic of the week (Burris appointment?) and get ready to have some intellectual discussions over a hearty brew.

See you then!

Need a break...grab a brew

Between Madoff, Blagojevich, and the economy, who doesn't long for a sense of rational thought and normalcy? I can think of no better way to get that than a gathering of Drinking Liberally with some left leaners from Rock Hill. So come to the White Horse for the last gathering of DL for the year and help pick a new place for us to meet next year! See you this Wednesday (6 p.m. onward).

Drink liberally at White Horse

Hi friends,
Thanks for drinking liberally without us last time. We didn't want to give you our cold. We will be back in full force this week though, to celebrate the fact that we finally have Obama and Hillary officially on the same side, yay! Yeah, I know, they had the Unity rally, but it's nice to know they will actually be working together in the White House!

See you tomorrow at White Horse, 6ish! Jason and I will buy a beer for the person who brings the best DL sign, flag, blow-up doll, whatever to let others in the bar know who we are and attract new members.

In addition to politics, let's discuss how the venue and time slot is working for everyone and take any suggestions on changes if need be. Jason will be there around 6:00, Jeannie around 8:00 (after her class). See you then!

liberal libations

To quote Jon Stewart:
"Do you know what I miss?... The election."

Not to worry, there are still people who care about politics and want to chat about issues that are important to you. Like the gay marriage ban in Cali, the crazy fluctuations in gas prices, the crazy fluctuations in the economy, or the fact that Georgia and a few others still don't know who's representing them in the senate! Come see old friends and meet new ones at drinking liberally tonight at White Horse on Camden Ave (just off Cherry).

The countdown is on! Less than 60 days 'til we have a new president!!! Let's party like it's 2009!

Drinking Liberally meeting & a request from a DL member

Hi all,
Fellow DL member John Sharp asked that I forward the message below on to you. While DL isn't affiliated with any particular party, we know that most of you are democrats and thought some of you might be interested in this opportunity to channel your nervous election energy! (see below) And if you help, you won't even have to get on the treadmill this week!

We can't wait to see you on this very exciting Wed after the election! We'll be at White Horse Grill(back room if we can get it) on Camden Rd. 6pm-8:30/9ish... We always love new faces, so bring a friend! If any of you who will be glued to the TV Tues wants to come up with some election trivia questions, that could be a fun game for Wed (something along the lines of "wait wait don't tell me"? Can you tell I'm excited about this week?!

-------- message from John Sharp------
The York County Democrats—Obama Campaign are seeking people to knock on doors (canvas) on election day, Nov. 4. We hope to recruit a few people from Drinking Liberally.

Through the primary and earlier canvassing, the Obama campaign has compiled a street-by-street list in Rock Hill precincts of Obama supporters who have not voted early. We plan to sent out teams, two-by-two, to again return to these doors on Election Tuesday, knocking and reminding people who have not voted to get out today to vote, and leaving door-knob hangers on the doors of those not home.

We have the maps, and can team you with an experienced canvasser to target key precincts in Rock Hill. We plan two shifts, one starting at 9 a.m. (for some quick training, being paired with a partner, and given your maps and literature), and a second starting at 1:00 pm. Even if you cannot work a full shift, even an hour or two will be helpful.

If you can assist, we will be staging from the York County Democratic Headquarters, 339 E. Main St., Rock Hill. The Dems York Co. HQ is near the corner of East Main and Elizabeth Lane, across the street from the big Comporium Service Center on Main and just behind the King Funeral Home on the corner of E. Main and Elizabeth Lane.

If you can come, either send me an email at john.sharp@tfriend.com, or call at 803-329-6413.

Regards,

John Sharp
